Finalist – Herald Society Awards
We are delighted to be a finalist at the Herald Society awards for our work supporting migrants to understand the energy system.
Supporting migrants to understand our energy system
More than 20 migrants a week drop in to the South Seeds office for support to tackle a wide range of issues with their domestic gas and electricity supply – from no heating, to tampered meters or the debts of former residents.
Tell us what you think about waste management and walking and cycling
South Seeds wants your views on how two local issues can be improved: waste management and walking and cycling. Come along to one of the sessions at our NEW office to take part. Refreshments provided and the first 50 people to come along get a free electricity monitor!
Allison Street community garden
In the heart of Govanhill there is the most beautiful garden in a lane behind Allison Street. We have written up the story of the garden, so you can find out more about it.
How does the Warm Home Discount work?
The Warm Home Discount is a payment of £140 paid by participating energy providers into the electricity account of eligible customers to help with higher winter bills. Each energy provider opens their fund at different times and eligibility can vary too.
New fitness sessions at the Croft
Start a new highly enjoyable exercise class outside at our beautiful community garden – the Croft. Spending time at the Croft on Queen’s Park recreation ground, surrounded by the abundant raised beds full of fruit and vegetables, gives most people a good feeling about life. Doing 30 minutes of fitness there, is a guaranteed buzz.
Could you be our fitness instructor?
South Seeds is looking to hire a fitness instructor to deliver 16 sessions over 8 weeks, between late August and October, at our community garden near Queen’s Park recreational ground.
Building a bee and butterfly garden with Waitrose
On the sunniest day of the year so far, ten Waitrose partners from the Newton Mearns store helped South Seeds build a bee and butterfly haven in the densely populated Southside of Glasgow.
