Many people are spending more time at home and many people have lost income over the last month. These factors will have an impact on energy bills. Don’t worry the energy companies have been told to be more considerate, the UK Government recently reached an agreement with domestic energy supply companies setting out principles to support energy customers impacted by COVID-19.
The good news is energy providers are making it easier for customers to defer payments. For example, if you have a pre-payment meter you may be able to access more emergency credit or requested pre-loaded top-up keys/cards to be sent out. If you have a credit meter, you may be able to delay the due date of your bill, reassess monthly payments and late payment charges. Check out the support your energy provider has said it will provide during this time in an energy provider comparison table.
The bad news is the best method of contacting your energy provider now is through email or live chat. This is because call centre capacity is reduced and call centres are prioritising emergency calls.
South Seeds can help residents on Glasgow’s southside get on top of their energy at home. If you are struggling to pay your bills or have a query about energy at home, call our energy advisers for a chat. Call Paul on 07548 334 147 or Jola on 07752 727 457, they are both familiar with draughty southside tenements and are experts at getting the best service out of energy companies. If you call is outside 9am to 5pm leave a message and they will call you back as soon as they can.
