Growing a Greener Glasgow

Welcome to South Seeds!

South Seeds is a community organisation based in the South Central area of Glasgow. We aim to work in partnership with residents and organisations within the local community to help improve the look and feel of the area. Under the climate challenge fund South Seeds is further developing the project to increase energy awareness and helping people learn more about growing food and reducing the amount of waste that we produce.

You can find out more about what we’re doing by visiting the projects section.

Here's what we've been up to

Flexibible energy demand and the future

As well as supporting residents to use electricity and gas more efficiently in their homes, we are working hard to find out more about how energy in the home may change for residents on Glasgow’s southside in the future.

Borrow don’t buy – 5 tool library case studies

The Southside Tool Library asked borrowers about their experience of using tools from the library at home. This 8 page booklet contains 5 case studies of users.

Looking for southside film-makers

South Seeds would like to commission a film-maker to create two films, both less than 3 minutes each and ready to upload to YouTube by 28 March 2019. The films will link South Seeds’ work to the process of slowing down climate change by reducing the amount of carbon which is released to the atmosphere.

Solving energy problems in the heart of Govanhill

South Seeds has been working with Govanhill Housing Association and Govanhill Community Development Trust to support residents to solve energy issues in the enhanced enforcement area in Govanhill (the streets between Calder Street, Cathcart Road, Dixon Avenue and Victoria Road) since April 2018, through a project funded by the Scottish Government’s Aspiring Communities Fund.
