Growing a Greener Glasgow

Welcome to South Seeds!

South Seeds is a community organisation based in the South Central area of Glasgow. We aim to work in partnership with residents and organisations within the local community to help improve the look and feel of the area. Under the climate challenge fund South Seeds is further developing the project to increase energy awareness and helping people learn more about growing food and reducing the amount of waste that we produce.

You can find out more about what we’re doing by visiting the projects section.

Here's what we've been up to

Solving energy problems in the heart of Govanhill

South Seeds has been working with Govanhill Housing Association and Govanhill Community Development Trust to support residents to solve energy issues in the enhanced enforcement area in Govanhill (the streets between Calder Street, Cathcart Road, Dixon Avenue and Victoria Road) since April 2018, through a project funded by the Scottish Government’s Aspiring Communities Fund.

If you would like to adopt-a-raised bed at the Croft for the 2019 growing season, to produce your own fruit and vegetables, fill out the application form 2019.

South Seeds energy-saving handyman service

South Seeds energy-saving handyman service helps solve common energy issues found in Victorian tenements on Glasgow’s southside, such as: draughty windows and doors, clothes taking ages to dry and warm air disappearing up open chimneys.
