This booklet includes a collection of five case studies which explain how South Seeds has helped residents save energy or sort out energy bills. We were able to deliver this work to save energy and save carbon through funding from the Scottish Government’s Climate Challenge fund.

Supporting migrants to understand our energy system

More than 20 migrants a week drop in to the South Seeds office for support to tackle a wide range of issues with their domestic gas and electricity supply – from no heating, to tampered meters or the debts of former residents.

How does the Warm Home Discount work?

The Warm Home Discount is a payment of £140 paid by participating energy providers into the electricity account of eligible customers to help with higher winter bills. Each energy provider opens their fund at different times and eligibility can vary too.

Energy Snapshot report

This report 30 page report maps all dwellings in Govanhill, Crosshill, Queen’s Park and Strathbungo by tenure, condition, type and condition. This report won the Saltire Award for innovation in housing design 2013.

Renewables Snapshot report

This 20 page report shows where renewable energy generation could be installed in Govanhill, Crosshill, Queen’s Park, Strathbungo and Pollokshields East on a street by street basis.
