Southside Tool Library
Welcome to Southside Tool Library
The Southside Tool Library will be popping up on the following dates, at these different southside locations:
Saturday 25 August – Craigie Street greenspace (a triangle of grass near St Brides primary school, between Victoria Road and Polloshaws Road). 1-3pm.
Thursday 27 September – Locavore (corner of Victoria Road and Calder Street), 5-8pm.
Saturday 27 October – Hidden Gardens (entrance through Tramway on Albert Drive), 1-4pm.
How to borrow
You need to become a member to borrow tools and all those living in the G41 or G42 postcode areas are eligible for membership. Simply drop in to South Seeds on Victoria Road or come to one of the pop-up events, to complete your membership. All you need to do is bring is photo ID and proof of address (dated within the last 3 months) and then complete the membership and borrower’s agreement.
You’ll then have access to the almost 100 tools in the constantly growing online tool inventory, ranging from electric sanders and wallpaper strippers to specialist chisels and screwdrivers. The online inventory enables you to browse and reserve tools you need. All reserved tools will be available for collection at the next pop-up event (note that tools cannot be collected from our office).
Tools can be borrowed for a week and if you need it longer (up to another week) you can renew it through the online inventory as long as no one else has reserved it.
We ask for an annual membership donation (pay as you feel), which helps to sustain the tool library and can be in the form of quality, working tools rather than cash if you prefer.
Note: you’ll need to create an account to browse the inventory and to complete the membership process as outlined above to be able to reserve and borrow tools
How to return your tool
You can drop your tool in to South Seeds base at the Queen’s Park end of Victoria Road, between 9.30 and 4.30 any weekday.
