The Warm Home Discount is an annual payment of £140 that many energy companies pay to eligible customers to help offset increased fuel costs over Winter. Some eligible customers receive it automatically because they receive the Pension Credit Guarantee Credit, and others need to apply each year. The payment is made usually in late March, directly into your electricity account and should not to be confused with the Winter Fuel Allowance or the Cold Weather Payments that some people receive.

Every company has different eligibility criteria, but most require you to either be in receipt of specific benefits or in some cases have a household income of less that £16,190 per year. South Seeds are here to help people in Govanhill, Crosshill, Strathbungo, Queens Park, East Pollokshields and Mount Florida check their eligibility and apply. If you know who your electricity supplier is, we can find out if you are eligible in less than a minute.

Each energy company decides when to open their fund (usually late Summer), they set aside an amount of money at that time. When they have received enough applications to reach that target, they close the fund. No-one can predict when each company will close its fund which means that even eligible people who don’t apply in time, will lose out.

So act now! If you live in our project area, call us on 0141 636 3959, email: info@southseeds.org or drop into our office at 514 Victoria Road, G42 8BG and let us check if you are eligible.
