In the last two years, South Seeds composting programme on the Southside of Glasgow has gone from strength to strength.
On the Southside most residents live in tenement flats or divided houses, and share outdoor space. For a shared compost bin to work, it needs to have a big enough capacity for all users and be easy to use, to avoid confusion. Based on our experience of installing successful composting facilities in the community gardens we built, we designed a compost bin ideal for shared use on the Southside.
Our How to build a compost bin film shows residents how they can get on and make their own. South Seeds compost manual shows residents explains clearly how to get composting. We support a growing number of composters across the Southside. We build bespoke bins, deliver composting workshops and demonstrate how facilities are used.
We are delighted our composting programme has now been nominated for a sustainability award from the Community Resources Network Scotland.
