The Warm Home Discount is a payment of £140 paid by participating energy providers into the electricity account of eligible customers to help with higher winter bills. Each energy provider opens their fund at different times and eligibility can vary too.
South Seeds know that customers can sometimes find the system confusing so we have been in touch with all the participating providers to find out if their funds are open.
Below is what we have found out.
Energy provider | Information for Warm Home Discount application process |
---|---|
British Gas | Fund is open |
Co-operative Energy | Register interest by phone |
EDF Energy | Opening soon |
E.ON | Fund is open |
Ebico | Fund is open |
First Utility | Register interest by phone |
Npower | Fund is open by phone |
OVO | Register interest online |
Sainsbury’s Energy | Fund is open |
ScottishPower | Fund is open |
SSE (Hydro, Atlantic, M&S Energy, Southern electric or Swalec) | Fund is open |
Utilita | Fund is open |
Utility Warehouse | Fund is open |
The energy providers close these funds when the money runs out. It is difficult to predict when this will happen, so we advise everyone to apply as soon as they can.
It is worth noting that the other confusing element to this fund is that although you need to apply before it runs out, if successful you will receive the payment April or May next year.
If you want to find out if you are eligible for the Warm Home Discount, contact your energy provider. If you’re still confused, just pop into our office at 168 Butterbiggins Road and we’ll help you figure it out.
