Support for people to become more energy efficient in Scotland has changed. Those people in properties in council tax bands A, B or C (check the council tax band of your property here) are eligible for the Home Energy Efficiency Programme Cashback scheme. They can be tenants in the private or social sector, owner occupiers or registered landlords.

This grant includes £100 towards the cost of the Green Deal Advice Report, £300 for other measures such as draughtproofing and secondary glazing, £400 for insulation, £500 for a new boiler and £4,500 for solid wall insulation. If you would like more information on this call Home Energy Scotland on 0808 808 2282.

Regardless of council tax band, all properties can access the Home Energy Efficiency Programme loan scheme. It is an interest free loan of up to £10,000 and is open to owner occupiers and private landlords. The loan is dependent on a successful credit check and recommendations identified by the Green Deal Advice Report. For example it is possible to get a £3,000 interest free loan for a boiler or a £500 interest free loan for loft insulation. For more information call Home Energy Scotland on 0808 808 2282.
